Dear Safe Schools Coalition Members and Friends:
Maurice Sendak died today. Did you know, during his life, that he was gay? When you read
Where the Wild Things Are over and over and over, did it dawn on you that this brilliant author and illustrator was a gay man? Me neither.
Read about his life and his passing today at age 83 here:
http://www.nytimes.com/2012/05/09/books/maurice-sendak-childrens-author-dies-at-83.html
We will always appreciate his contribution – his leading the way -- to respectful books for children.
