3:00pm – 5:00pm Train the Trainers (an extended training for program managers who want to teach others how to facilitate the curriculum)

Multicultural Youth Leadership increases knowledge of culture, self-awareness, and leadership skills among participants in a way that honors their respective communities.  This curriculum module is designed to be added on to your programs’ existing youth leadership curriculum, or carried out on its own with youth already knowledgeable about leadership.  In an age-appropriate way, youth ages 14-18 will begin to understand the complex ways culture, power, communication, and leadership intersect.

In this training, we will experience the curriculum first-hand, discuss the implications of using this curriculum with youth, and brainstorm ways to incorporate it into our own programs. For program managers who want to teach others how to facilitate the training, there is an additional two-hour training where we will cover facilitation tips, common questions, and other important training aspects.

Who: www.pbs.org
When: Tuesday, June 30; 9 p.m. EST (Check your local listings!)
Where: Your local PBS station

In September 2002, three skinheads were roaming a park in
Rheims, France, looking to "do an Arab," when they settled for a gay man instead. Twenty-nine-year-old François Chenu fought back fiercely, but he was beaten unconscious and thrown into a river, where he drowned. The acclaimed French verité film Beyond Hatred is the story of the crime's aftermath; above all, of the Chenu family's brave and heartrending struggle to seek justice while trying to make sense of such pointless violence and unbearable loss. With remarkable dignity, they fight to transcend hatred and the inevitable desire for revenge.
