(1) Putting the Pieces Together Conference (June 22; Seattle, WA)

The Putting the Pieces Together Conference is an annual professional development and networking conference that connects and informs over 400 attendees, including a wide range of people working to support children, youth and families at different levels (direct service providers, agency directors, community members, local government representatives) and all contexts, from grassroots to large organizations. Pieces is an excellent opportunity for members of the local early learning and youth development communities to learn about each other€™s€™ programs and network around ways to pool expertise and resources in support the children, youth and families of our community. This year€™s theme is €śBuilding the Continuum: Strengthening the Support Network from Birth to Young Adulthood€ť. The conference will be held on June 22 at South Seattle Community College.

(2) GLSEN Youth Pride Dance for LGBTQ teens (June 22; Seattle, WA)

Seattle Parks and Recreation and the Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Education Network (GLSEN)

of Washington State will hold a Youth Pride Dance at Yesler Community Center from 8-11 p.m.

on Friday, June 22 at Yesler Community Center, 917 E Yesler Way in Seattle. This event provides the 21 and younger community of LGBTQ youth and their allies a safe and fun way to participate in Seattle€™s Pride weekend. Pride€™s theme this year is €śThe Many Faces of Pride.€ť The Youth Pride Dance honors the theme by allowing youth a space to celebrate their €śmany faces.€ť The dance provides an evening of fun, food, drinks, and music. (3) Media & Technology in Sexual Violence Prevention Webinar (June 26; internet)

Media and technology offer essential tools to advance prevention efforts. What are best practices for their use and what are alternatives for individuals without ready access to these tools? We will explore social media like the old standbys, Facebook and Twitter, plus newer and genre-specific sites; technology from flip phones to geotrackers; media from movies to magazines. You don't have to be a techie to get the most out of today's technology - learn how to promote positive, healthy behavior using media and technology at any skill level. Objectives include: describe why media and technology are useful in sexual violence prevention, Identify at least three strategies for use in sexual violence prevention work, identify at least three technological tools for use in sexual violence prevention work, articulate at least one best practice for media and one best practice for technology use in sexual violence prevention work, and identify at least one alternative strategy for media and one alternative strategy for technology in sexual violence prevention. (4) 2012 Gender Spectrum Family Conference (July 13-15; Berkeley, CA)

2012 Gender Spectrum Family Conference and Professionals' Workshop is a celebration of gender diversity for all children and teens. Each year, the Gender Spectrum program offerings have expanded to meet the growing needs of families raising these amazing kids. While adults choose from over 40 workshops, children attend Kids Camp, Tween Camp or our fabulous Teen Conference.  Families also have an opportunity to schedule one-on-one time at our Family Support Center with experienced professionals in the areas of medicine, mental health, the law and spiritual guidance. This year's workshop, entitled Zeroing in on Gender: Discipline-Based Examination of Practices for Supporting Gender Diverse Youth will be organized around individual disciplines for the first time ever. Separate sessions for attorneys, medical providers, mental health professional and educators will take place, facilitated by experienced experts within each field. The day will culminate with cross discipline conversations focused on intersections of practice, resources and networking.

(5) Advocate Core Training (July 23-26; Shelton, WA)

This is an overall 30 hour core training that will satisfy the Office of Crime Victims Advocacy Core Training requirements for advocates supporting victims of sexual assault/abuse. Part 1 of this training is a 5 hour online training course. By registering and upon being accepted into this training, you will receive directions allowing you to login to the online course. The online portion must be completed by 5pm on July 20th.

Part 2 is the 25 hour in-person training in Shelton, WA from July 23 - 26, 2012. The training will be from 9am until 4:15 at the Shelton Civic Center.

In just over a month adult COLAGErs from all over the world will be traveling to Provincetown to finish our preparations for Family Week COLAGE programs.  COLAGE Family Week programs for youth ages 8-18 are life-changing experiences that will offer your child a sense of community, solidarity, and strength.  We encourage you to register now for this unique event.  Youth with LGBTQ parents ages 8-18 will have
