(1) meeting reminder: Safe Schools Coalition meets at 3 pm today (PDT) in person and by phone - all are welcome
You do not need to me a volunteer or represent a member org to attend! All are welcome. Meetings are a great chance to connect to colleagues and announce projects and pick people's brains. The in-person gathering is always at Planned Parenthood, 2001 E
Madison, Seattle, WA. Please park on the street to save the lot for clients and staff of PP. Sign in at the reception desk and again when you reach the meeting room. If you plan to phone in, call the chair (206-715-1601) for instructions.

(4) TELL THE FEDS WHAT YOU THINK: The US Dept of Education is seeking comments on its plan to conduct an analysis of school bullying laws and policies -- comments due by August 1
The U.S. Department of Education (ED) is inviting comments on its plan to conduct an analysis of bullying laws and policies. U.S. ED will conduct case studies of 24 school sites nationwide to document state and local implementation of anti-bullying laws
and policies.
The study will examine how policies are influenced by state legislative requirements, including ways that state and district policies facilitate or create challenges for effective implementation.
According to U.S. ED, the study aims to identify promising strategies that school districts are implementing to combat bullying in schools. This information will be used by U.S. ED to better support bullying prevention activities.
U.S. ED requests comments addressing five issues: whether this collection is necessary to the proper functions of U. S. ED, whether the information will be processed and used in a timely manner, whether the estimate of burden is accurate, how U.S. ED
might enhance the quality, utility, and clarity of the information to be collected, and how U.S. ED might minimize the burden of this collection on the respondents, including through the use of information technology.
Comments are due by August 1, 2011
