What are the benefits?

The benefits for being a member organization include being a part of the work in a very real way, being able to let others know of your involvement in the work of the Coalition, its resources, activities, law and policy work, etc., and to be able to connect with other organizations that are committed to our mission: to make schools safe places where every family can belong, every educator can teach, and every child can learn, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity.

Your organization will be listed (and linked to if you have a website) in our list of member organizations above on this page and our About Us page - and on our letterhead.

We send news and announcements to our listservs so send us news!
We love sharing news on our listserv about what our member organizations are doing.

Fundraising messages are only sent for member organizations.
See more information here.

What are the expectations of being a member organization?

We ask that you to have at least one liaison attend at least one Coalition meeting per year.  Those meetings are held monthly in Seattle on the 3rd Tuesday of the month 3-5 p.m. during the school year and 2-4 p.m. in the summer, and there is the option of calling in.

Being a member organization means you support the mission of the Coalition - with an understanding that joining the Coalition in no way precludes your making independent decisions about your own policies and services.

Of course we hope for even more that that! There are many ways that a member organization can be involved in the work of the Coalition. Talk to us!

Membership is ANNUAL from January 1st to December 31st. New memberships that are accepted in October, November or December will include the remaining months in that year and also the next year.

Organizations that are interested in becoming members fill out an application which includes signing this statement:

"Please consider us for organizational membership in the Safe Schools Coalition. We realize that new member applications are considered at monthly Coalition meetings. If we become a member, we will be listed on Coalition letterhead and publications. It means that, as an organization, we support the mission of the Coalition: to make schools safe places where every family can belong, every educator can teach, and every child can learn, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity. We understand, too, that joining the Coalition in no way precludes our making independent decisions about our own policies and services. And we will do our best to have a liaison attend at least one Coalition meeting per year*."
